Ch 19: I Miss You
Author: Da La
The cold white light filled the vast space, emitting a warmth that subtly comforted the two zerg.
Wen Ran hugged Ning tightly with both hands, his dark eyes flickering with a subtle shyness.
“Oh, making me embarrassed.”
He then nodded in agreement, “It’s good that you know.”
Ning looked up at his master, his bright blue eyes immediately sparkling with a hint of laughter.
He raised his hand to tap the zerg’s nose, then said seriously, “Master, you’re being shy.”
Wen Ran looked with interest at the female in front of him, who had regained his spirits, and placed his hand on Ning’s nose.
“Ning praises me, and I’m happy.”
So, Wen Ran hugged the tomato-coloured zerg with a face full of satisfaction and pride.
Since that night, Ning always seemed happy.
So, occasionally when Wen Ran was training (not really), he would receive communications from Ning, and the beautiful and aloof female monarch would suddenly appear before him.
…
Wen Ran paused, his leg still suspended mid-air as his opponent blocked his kick.
He took a step back, gesturing for a mid-game break, and then walked away without looking back, ignoring the gossiping zergs behind him.
Wen Ran wore casual clothes when he left and returned home, only changing into his black military uniform at the army base.
This was the first time Ning saw Wen Ran in uniform, his broad shoulders and slim waist clearly defined by the black shirt. Because of the practice, a few buttons on the collar were undone, revealing his delicate collarbone covered with a thin layer of sweat, giving off an irresistibly attractive allure in the light.
Ning covered his slightly upturned lips with his hand, secretly delighted.
This perfect male zerg was his.
“What are you laughing at?”
Wen Ran didn’t rush to ask Ning about the reason for the call. If there was something urgent, Ning would have said it.
As he expected, there wasn’t anything major.
On the screen, Ning talked about some trivial matters that couldn’t be more irrelevant, going on and on.
Wen Ran wiped the sweat off his face with a towel, his gaze unwilling to leave his zerg.
“Master, there’s a meeting in the afternoon…”
Suddenly, Ning’s voice stopped, and Wen Ran promptly questioned, “What’s wrong?”
Ning stared calmly at Wen Ran’s face and said, “Master…”
“Hmm?”
“I seem to miss you a bit…”
His voice was not as gentle and elegant as before, but rather husky and seductive.
Wen Ran tightened his hand wiping the sweat, his gaze slightly amused as he looked at Ning on the screen, pretending to glance at the nearby digital clock.
Then he said to Ning, “What should we do? It’s only one o’clock in the afternoon, and we won’t meet for another seven hours.”
After saying this, the two shared a knowing smile for a few seconds, and then a gentle laughter gradually spread between them.
This kind of communication allowed the two zergs to stay connected amidst their busy lives. Initially silent and even awkward, they began to chat more freely, and Ning could even initiate conversations while Wen Ran patiently listened on the other end. Bit by bit, a warm and sweet bond formed between them, creating a unique friendship.
Everything seemed to be moving in a positive direction.
Looking up, the night sky of the empire was incredibly brilliant, with different colored luminescent bodies, all of which could make the zerg feel exceptionally gentle and comfortable with just one glance.
But in the most secluded place, the border star seemed to be emanating a restless and uneasy vibe, flashing with a bloody red light.
In a military base on that planet…
The door automatically opened as it sensed the approaching heat, and something flowed through the corridor, gradually integrating its grey-black appearance, resembling damaged humanoid figurines with limbs and a head, but lacking facial features and digits. At the center of their chests was a magnificent red crystal, which drew countless crimson threads, delivering nutrients to their bodies.
At the end of the corridor was a dark but dimly lit sealed space, where the thing stopped in the center of the red dot, bowed, and then worshipped, which was the brightest red place.
Slowly, the faint green light spread until it illuminated the entire space.
The thing sensed its surroundings, and countless members of the same species gathered in this part of the space.
And the most conspicuous of them all was their king.
A heavy gasp came from above, and it quickly assumed a posture, awaiting the king’s inquiry.
“Our clan, as the distinguished Kalriou, considers the red crystal on our chest to be the ultimate symbol of pride.”
It sounded like murmuring to oneself, but it was very loud. Along with its voice, the subjects beneath it pressed their heads against the ground, their fluid bodies trembling.
Because they knew that the king’s anger was about to descend upon them.
As they expected, an invisible force quickly swept over them, with the king at the center, blowing the fluid subjects so they couldn’t maintain their shapes.
“Now, our clan has a need, but the ants underfoot refuse to obey.”
The first liquid, the thing that had just entered, quickly performed a grand ceremony and then stood up.
“Your Majesty, calm down. They are just a group of small zerg. I will bring back the red crystal to provide sustenance for our clan.”
This seemed to truly console the king. The invisible force began to slow down, gently restoring the forms of the fluid subjects.
“Go, with the army.”
With a heavy voice, a slow command was issued, signalling the start of a battle.

The climate in the border regions was always harsh, with strong winds carrying dry and coarse sand sweeping through the zerg’s military base.
The lampshade, covered in years of dust, trembled slightly, but it couldn’t attract the attention of the female soldiers drinking under the light.
“My zerg god, I don’t want to stay in this damn barren area for another second!”
“Damn it, there’s not even a place to have fun!”
“Yeah, I haven’t touched the white and tender hands of a male zerg in so long!”
“You don’t know, I saw the top star in Star Entertainment last time, that little face, so tender, could squeeze out water!”
“Hahaha…”
As they spoke, the female soldiers’ vulgar language became more and more energetic, even discussing which male zerg’s butt felt the best to touch, resembling a bunch of old perverts
But on this night, the female soldiers didn’t go to bed with their dreamy males like usual, lost in the intoxication of alcohol.
“Boom…”
“Alert—Alert—Enemy invasion—”
“Please be vigilant!!!”
As the stationed female soldiers reacted, the first line of defense had already been breached.
On the blurry surveillance screen affected by interference, the desert gradually rippled like water, but then quickly condensed into shape, with glowing red bodies lined up one after another, numbering in the tens of thousands, slowly advancing towards the base. A slender and powerful hand turned off the video, and the usually warm and friendly face showed a rare seriousness.
