Ch 8: Farewell to an Old Friend
Author: Da La
The night was thick as water, with stars adding a touch of brilliance to the dark canvas.
The warm yellow light indoors imbued the atmosphere with a dreamy quality, tempting the zerg to immerse themselves in it.
At this moment, the white roses turned red, folding away their once-unyielding thorns, becoming soft and pliant, drawing affection from Wen Ran, who embraced them tenderly.
The passionate scent of iris filled the air, continually assaulting Wen Ran’s senses.
Wen Ran composed himself, his black eyes fixed on the female zerg, whose eyes were reddened and slightly raised, murmuring softly.
“What’s wrong?”
…
“Ning.”
…
“Tell me.”
…
Ning’s eyes, like a deep sea, were filled with moisture, helpless sobs escaping his lips, yet he refused to speak.
The standoff didn’t last long, as Wen Ran eventually bent down to embrace Ning, unable to bear his continued tears.
Honestly, Wen Ran felt somewhat powerless.
He had never dealt with emotions before, and in this regard, he was not adept.
But he understood the most basic common sense: to give one’s partner the respect and space they deserve.
He silently watched as the milk on the table bubbled from the heat, engaging in deep self-reflection.
He should give his partner enough space.

So, in the early morning, Ning found a note, a cup of milk and a sandwich on the table.
Dust floated in the air, casting shadows on the table where the note and breakfast lay, separating Ning from it as he stood in the shadows.
In his journey through life, he had never been treated so attentively.
His eyes even showed a hint of panic, never having been taught how to deal with a male zerg’s endless tenderness.
Time, when not scrutinized, goes unnoticed. It seemed like an eternity, yet also like a fleeting moment, before the female zerg with a bowed head finally made a move.
Her pale, slightly reddened hand slowly reached across the line between light and shadow, but as if scalded, it recoiled, clutching herself tightly.
Ning looked at his own useless appearance, a faint smile drifting through the air, cold and indifferent.
He furrowed his brows, finally taking a step forward and picking up the note.
‘Ning, breakfast is on the table, and the household steward will monitor the temperature. Also, I will always be by your side.’
A cool breeze brushed over the sea, causing a comforting roar.

Wen Ran looked expressionlessly at the medical equipment in front of him, a hint of bewilderment flashing through his black eyes.
Although the Zerg race’s technology was similar to that of his homeworld, it didn’t mean that, as a military officer, he possessed medical skills.
The female officer responsible for him led him to the main building of the medical center. “Your Excellency, you don’t need to learn how to treat the wounded. Your main task for the next three months is to help the female zerg alleviate their mental pain.”
Although Wen Ran’s rank was so low that it couldn’t be detected, a mosquito, no matter how small, was still meat. Females who had been unable to vent their emotions, due to years of combat, naturally needed help.
Wen Ran felt that what he said was somewhat strange, and he didn’t fully understand it, but that didn’t stop him from coldly agreeing.
Most of the zergs in the medical department were elderly females, past the age where they needed male zerg. However, the ugly faces of males were deeply imprinted on their hearts, reflected in their treatment of Wen Ran.
“Your Excellency, forgive my bluntness. Although you are an esteemed male zerg, in the military, everything revolves around the sick zergs. Please be prepared. Here is your uniform.”
Luo Wen’s attitude wasn’t good, bordering on bad.
With a disdainful expression, he looked at Wen Ran, immediately retracting his hand after handing him the clothes and even wiping it on the white coat.
The contempt was evitable.
Wen Ran stared expressionlessly at the old female insect. After a while, he raised his eyebrows.
The newcomer induction regulations mentioned: seniors would always suppress juniors to showcase their status.
Wen Ran didn’t mind; he was always approachable.
Luo Wen watched as Wen Ran smiled at him before turning to change into his clothes, his face feigning annoyance.
Huh?! What’s going on?!
There hadn’t been many males entering the military medical department. Apart from the male zerg detected a few years ago who unexpectedly turned out to be strong, no other males had come in.
Wen Ran’s arrival naturally pleased the Zergs, especially those in their prime years who were more than willing to interact with males. Unlike Luo Wen, who found males repulsive, they were very keen.
“Hey, idiot. Have you heard? A male zerg has arrived at the medical department, and he’s taller than you from behind!”
“What’s the use of being tall? It depends on whether he can satisfy you below!”
“Hahaha!”
The military Zerg were quite open-minded, so their speech was also unrestrained. However, Buck and Zengla, who were sitting on the side, seemed uninterested.
“Humph, no zerg can compare to that one!”
Buck viciously bit off the fries in his mouth.
Zengla also nodded in agreement. “Indeed, I’ve never seen a male zerg like Wen Ran.”
“By the way, have you seen the news? The silhouette of that mysterious male zerg seems to…”
Before the words were finished, a figure appeared in the cafeteria.
Even though it was a medical uniform, it still had military characteristics, very fitted. Wen Ran was naturally broad-shouldered and narrow-waisted, with a straight posture. Coupled with the black military boots wrapping around his beautifully curved calves, he appeared restrained yet alluring.
Zengla looked at the male insect, slowly saying two words.
“Wen…Ran.”
