The Bird and the Golden Cage: Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Author: Mr. Big Horn

Su Jinxin lay in Yan Zhen’s arms, panting for a long time before he could finally speak. “Mm, it felt so good.”

Yan Zhen was about to carry him to the bathroom, but paused when he heard this. Realizing Su Jinxin was answering his earlier question, he couldn’t help but laugh. “It’s over now, no need to say that.”

Su Jinxin’s ears turned red, and he buried his head in Yan Zhen’s chest, murmuring softly, “…It really did feel good.”

Yan Zhen’s recently softened member immediately sprang to life again.

He bit his lip and gave Su Jinxin’s butt a light slap. “Stop tempting me—it’s not the time for that.”

Su Jinxin stuck his tongue out at him.

Because Su Jinxin was injured, Yan Zhen didn’t want him to get wet. He set him on the edge of the bathtub, quickly showered, then put on a robe. Returning with a wet towel, he gently wiped Su Jinxin down. “I have to go to work soon. You rest at home. When you wake up, I’ll take you to school to get your things.”

“Oh.”

“What’s wrong? Don’t want to?”

Still in the afterglow of his climax, Su Jinxin’s face betrayed him before he could perfect his expression, and Yan Zhen caught the slip.

“It’s just…” Su Jinxin knew he couldn’t hide his feelings in this state, so he confessed, “Your car and clothes…they’re too flashy for our school.”

Yan Zhen suddenly remembered: Su Jinxin was very particular about these things.

He accepted the branded clothes Yan Zhen bought him, but wouldn’t wear them to school. He’d come early to change into the clothes Yan Zhen liked—or wear nothing at all. Before going back, he’d switch back to his “ordinary college student” attire.

Yan Zhen hadn’t cared much before.

Now, thinking about it, Su Jinxin probably didn’t want his classmates to know or maybe didn’t want to immerse himself in a luxurious lifestyle.

This thought left Yan Zhen feeling a bit uncomfortable.

He didn’t want to make things difficult for Su Jinxin but also didn’t trust anyone else to accompany him.

So, he had his assistant buy a set of ordinary clothes and asked a stylist to give him a young, low-key hairstyle. He borrowed a subordinate’s car, a modest one worth about twenty thousand yuan, before returning to pick up Su Jinxin.

When Yan Zhen entered, Su Jinxin was napping under the covers. Hearing the noise, he peeked out, saw Yan Zhen, and froze. His still-drowsy eyes widened in shock, then he rubbed them to make sure he wasn’t dreaming.

Yan Zhen walked over and gently caught his hand. “Don’t rub your eyes.” Su Jinxin’s hair was a mess, and his dazed look made Yan Zhen laugh. “What’s wrong? Still half asleep?”

Su Jinxin finally responded, “Mr. Yan, it really is you.”

Yan Zhen flicked his forehead gently. “Really that out of it? Don’t even recognize me?”

“No, it’s just…” Su Jinxin’s face turned red, and he used his free hand to cover his face. “You look so much younger like this…”

Yan Zhen couldn’t help but laugh, but he pretended to be upset. “Oh, so normally I look old?”

“No, no!” Su Jinxin quickly said. “You usually look mature, um, dignified and sophisticated…”

Yan Zhen bent down and kissed him. “I’m teasing you, I’m not mad.”

Su Jinxin obediently tilted his head up for the kiss, pulling his arms from under the covers to wrap around Yan Zhen’s neck. Yan Zhen noticed he was wearing his oversized pajamas, with only his fingertips and half a shoulder exposed. He quickly pulled the blanket up to cover him. “Why are you wearing mine?”

“I got sweaty while sleeping…” Su Jinxin tried to explain, but Yan Zhen kept kissing him, so his words came out muffled.

Yan Zhen slipped his hand inside to feel his skin, finding it slightly damp. “Did you have a fever again? Sweat through all your pajamas?”

—Yan Zhen never skimped on caring for those around him, especially Su Jinxin. They had a large wardrobe full of matching pajamas, enough to wear a new set every day for a month without repeats.

“Just a bit, it’s gone now. Only soaked through two sets,” Su Jinxin answered honestly. He quickly added, “I changed myself, no one else saw…”

“I wasn’t asking that,” Yan Zhen held him on his lap, touching noses. “Why wear mine then?”

Su Jinxin, with no way out, blushed deeply and whispered, “Your scent makes me sleep better.”

Yan Zhen had suspected this but hearing it made his heart ache with tenderness. He wanted to swallow him whole right then and there.

But he had work to do.

So, he kissed the top of Su Jinxin’s head and said, “Be good.”

After helping Su Jinxin change, Yan Zhen carried him downstairs and placed him in the passenger seat, buckling him in.

Turning to start the car—this twenty-thousand-dollar car was unfamiliar to him—Yan Zhen mechanically followed the steps taught by his subordinate. Finally, after starting it, he sighed with relief and noticed Su Jinxin’s face was still red. “What’s wrong? Still shy?”

Su Jinxin covered his face with his hands, nodding honestly. “A little bit.”

Yan Zhen was curious. “Why? Because I carried you down? There’s no one else around, everyone knows about us. I’ve been carrying you up and down every day lately. Why shy now?”

Su Jinxin shook his head. “It’s not that…” He hesitated, then quickly added, “I’m not shy.”

Yan Zhen kept guessing, “Worried I’ll carry you like this at school? Don’t worry, I bought a wheelchair, it’s in the trunk. When we get there, I’ll push you around and tell people I’m your distant cousin.”

“Oh, okay,” Su Jinxin nodded quickly, “Thank you, Mr. Yan.”

But his blush didn’t fade.

Yan Zhen was even more puzzled. “It’s not that either… Then what is it?”
